EFT tapping to clear negative belief

Emotional freedom tapping or EFT is an emotional healing technique. It is an alternative treatment for physical pain and emotional distress. It is believed that the cause of all negative emotions is a disruption in the body’s energy system and physical pain and diseases are directly connected to the negative emotions. People who use this technique believe tapping the body can create a balance in your energy system and treat pain.

Everything in this universe including body is made out of energy. According to the Chinese medicine, the meridian points are the areas from where body’s energy flows. It is very important for the body’s energy systems to stay balances at all time. So, by tapping these points restores balance to the body’s energy and negative emotion or energy are conquered.

It is similar to acupuncture, the only difference is acupuncture uses needles to apply pressure on these energy points but here in this EFT technique instead of needles we use finger tips to apply pressure.

How does it work

The basic technique requires you to focus on meridian points or negative emotions at hand (negative emotions like e.g. fear, anxiety, bad memories or anything that is bothering you). While maintaining the focus on these issues, use your finger tip to tap on these points to tap 5-7 times on each on meridian points. There are 12 major meridian points in our body, out of 12 EFT focuses on 9 meridian points.

EFT tapping sequence

Before tapping always rate the emotion you are feeling from 1 – 10.

1.Karate chop point (outside edge of hand in line with little finger).

Gently tapping this point, say the statement what is bothering you and say even though I am feeling (your situation) but I love and accept myself.

Repeat 3 times.

2.Top of the head (TH)

Repeat at least 5 times on point while stating your emotion , how you are feeling “ I am very angry or I am really angry” But I completely love and accept myself.

  • Eyebrow (EB)

  • Side of the eye (SE)

  • Under the eye (UE)

  • Under the nose (UN)

  • Chin (CN)

  • Collar bone (CB)

  • Under the arm (UA)

When you finish tapping under the arm (UA). Finish This sequence by tapping top of the head (TH)

3.The gamut point (it is located on the back of each hand between the knuckle at the base of ring finger and the little finger).

Perform 9 actions while tapping the Gamut point continuously.

  • Eyes closed

  • Eyes open

  • Eyes hard down right (head steady)

  • Eyes hard down left (head steady)

  • Roll eyes in a circle

  • Roll eyes in an opposite direction

  • Hum 5 seconds of song (may be Happy birthday)

  • Count from 1 to 5

  • Hum 5 seconds of song again

Repeat the sequence number 2

While repeating this sequence change the statement as “ Even though I still have some of this emotion but still I accept and love myself.

After completing this sequence pause for a second and see the intensity of your emotion, if another emotion comes up repeat sequence number 2 again.

Finally, at the end of the sequence rate your emotion from 1 – 10. I recommend you to note down the emotion in a journal to notice the improvement that are being made.

Note: It will take sometimes for all the emotion to go right away but with few times you will notice the changes in emotions.
